One Maryland One Book 2013
This year the Maryland Humanities Council selected King Peggy for the One Maryland One Book program. King Peggy , written by Eleanor Herman and Peggielene Bartels, tells the story of how Bartels, an American Secretary, became King of an impoverished village in Ghana. Spur designed materials for the program, including the poster, teachers' and readers' guides, and bookmark, with illustrations by Andrea Kalfas.

Spur Design turns 18
Back in 1995 we started Spur Design in Hampden. That's 18 years ago this month! In honor of Spur officially becoming an adult, we decided to give a small glimpse into our past with a little before-and-after.
When we moved our studio to Ash Street in 1999, there was a lot of work to be done on the building. Here's the studio right after it was purchased including a shot of Dave checking out the interior:
And here's Spur Design today! A little hard work and elbow grease has made the studio a comfortable place to work in these past 18 years.

Directory of Illustration 29
It's been my honor and pleasure to design and art direct the Directory of Illustration for the last few years. Collaborating with talented illustrators including Dan Page, Aaron Meshon, Colin Johnson, and Ken Orvidas is a true dream. I handled both the design and illustration duties for this year's book which is arriving on 18,000 art buyers' desks this week.
